Peñasco provides 7% of jobs created in Sonora

By : Jose Antonio PerezDuring the last three and a half years, Puerto Peñasco has nearly doubled the generation of work sources and represents at least 7% of the just over 100,000 jobs created in Sonora during the current administration, confirmed Ricardo Platt Garcia, Secretary of Economy.

In the close of a working tour the Secretary recently made through the area, he revealed that in 2003 this region represented 4.2% of new registered with the Mexican Institute of Social Security, number which has now nearly doubled, the majority of these corresponding to Puerto Peñasco.

In a press conference, Platt Garcia remarked that there is still much to be done in Puerto Peñasco and they will need to work on increasing the tourism market it is currently experiencing.

In this sense, he noted, they are promoting the opening of commercial flights so that tourism can fly in, thereby complementing those numbers arriving by land.

He noted that negotiations are in their advanced stages and it is possible that whiting in a few months the first flights of Aerolitoral will take off, connecting with Hermosillo as well as to Los Angeles and Las Vegas in The United States.

He indicated that these are form steps towards achieving that the gas does not run out, literally as well as figuratively, on the machine that generates jobs in Peñasco, which is tourism.

When asked, he affirmed that in the area of investment, all of the gears are focused on tourism as the principal engine of the Economy and they have discarded any investment in the industrial sector, as it is not profitable to pursue such, compared with other areas in Sonora.

The Secretary of the Economy furthered that fortunately there is a dynamic, enthusiastic “smoking” atmosphere surrounding tourism, which is an extraordinary economic engine, that must be fed with additional measures in order to guarantee that in continue to grow and be strengthened.

He started that he put financing plans at the disposal of distinct sectors in Peñasco for the acquiring of computer equipment and comprehensive enterprising development.
