Growth in Rocky Point
If it has been a while since you were in Rocky Point, Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, you will be amazed at the growth over the past few years. There are several new Resorts that were not available 5 years ago, like Sonoran Sun, Bella Sirena, Las Palmas, Casa Blanca, and Las Palomas. Their are also new ones coming soon, like Esmeralda on Sandy Beach, and The Pointe, which will be in Las Conchas. We would like to share some photos with you that show the different changes, and the areas that each are currently located.
Let’s start from the Airport in Rocky Point, then take you over Laguna Del Mar and over Cholla Bay.
Cholla Bay is home to the famous JJ’s Cantina, and is also a hot spot for retired Americans who want to spend a lot of time in Mexico. Who wouldn’t, right?
Now, right after you pass Competition Hill, heading back toward town, you begin to see all the beautiful Beach Resorts. Down from The Reef Club & Piano Bar, you will see Esmerelda, who just began construction in late 2006. Then, next to that is all the newest Resorts available through Sea Side Reservations, the Largest Management Company in all of Mexico. From the Reef to town is Sonoran Sun, Bella Sirena, Las Palmas, Sonoran Sea & Sonoran Spa (under different management), Princesa, Casa Blanca, Las Palomas, Las Gaviotas, and Pinacate. Here are some photos showing each property, starting with the Sonoran Sun, with several photos also showing some of the changes in the past 3 years.
Here is the beginning of Acropolis, which boast to be one of the best outdoor beach party’s in the world! I hope it has the exact same impact in Rocky Point. Sandy Beach is a great location for an all day beach party, don’t you think?!
Another great addition to Rocky Point, in the very near future, is the International Airport that will be built a few miles North of the Mayan Palace. This airport will put Rocky Point on the International Map, and help people from all over the world to come and enjoy this wonderful fishing village that has grown so strong. Here are 2 photos of the Estuary by Luna Blanca and Encanto, just about 4 miles from the Mayan Palace, and a few photos of the Mayan Palace itself.
Here is the beginning of a very bright future for Rocky Point. This shows the construction for the International Airport North of the Mayan Palace. They hope to have the first runway finished by early to mid 2008. Their is also talk of a new road that will come straight to the Mayan Palace from Sonoyta. We will keep our “ear to the ground” on this one, okay!
Another possitive change for Rocky Point is the construction of the new Costal Highway, Highway #37. This new highway will begin from San Luis Rio Colorado (below Yuma, Az), and follow the coast all the way to Rocky Point. They are half way done with one side of the highway, which is still about 34 nautical miles from Rocky Point. This will bring all of our California neighbors much closer than before, making the previous drive of 7 1/2 hours to 4 hours. Here are the photos of the progress so far.
The most recent changes we found we some we all knew were coming. It was just a matter of time. There are 3 Circle K stores now; 1 at the border in Sonoyta, and 2 in Rocky Point.
You will also notince a new Burger King on the main road, Benito Juarez Blvd, just after the baseball stadium, and a Subway Sandwich Shop on the Malecon. “Please don’t shoot the messenger folks”. We just thought you should know.
On the way to the Malecon, on the main road, you will see a new Car Rental Agency. They seem to have a good selection of vehicles to chose from. Take a look.
Sea Side Reservation is proud to able to show everyone the continued changes and growth in and around Rocky Point, Mexico. We are looking forward to seeing how much will be accomplished in 2007. We will do our very best to keep you updated on the changes to your favorite “Beach Town”.
