Dia de la Independencia Mexicana

To the “grito” of “Viva Mexico, Viva Puerto peñasco”, mayor Heriberto Rentería Sánchez headed the traditional ceremony of “el Grito” of Independence at the Old Municipal building.

Accompanied by his wife, Minerva Ramírez de Rentería, functionaries, and other special guests, the Mayor came out, on to the presidential balcony at 11 pm to give the “grito” of Independence to commemorate the 198th anniversary of the Independence of Mexico.

The Mayor called out once, “Long live the heroes that gave us our patria and liberty, long Hidalgo, Morelos, Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, Allende, Aldama, Matamoros and long live Puerto Peñasco”. The happiness of the hundreds of citizens of Puerto Peñasco who gathered around the building was contagious.

The entire city, once more, accompanied the city authorities who remembered the heroic dy of 1810. Thanks to the brave heroes, headed by Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, on this occasion. The lecture of the constitutive Act was done by the City Secretary, Hidelgardo Hernandez Castro.

After the “Grito”, came the long awaited the spectacular fireworks. The Mayor and his family observed from the balcony and afterwards they joined the people to celebrate the Mexican fiesta. There was live music to dance to and different food stands placed around the municipal area.

Other authorities who were at the Municipal Building were Francela López Castro, who is the city Syndicate, the City Treasurer Federico López Reyes, the Director of Civil and Cultural Action, Angela Rojo Ruiz, an the Director of Oomapas, Gerardo Figueroa Zazueta.
